Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the cable at the negative battery terminal. On vehicles equipped with an air bag, wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding.

  3. Remove the undercovers from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Drain the engine coolant.
  6.  
  7. Remove the air intake duct.
  8.  
  9. Remove the reservoir tank assembly.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the No. 1 cooling fan connector.
  12.  
  13. If equipped with A/C, disconnect the No. 2 cooling fan connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the engine water inlet and the upper hose from the radiator.
  16.  
  17. If equipped with an automatic transmission, disconnect the two A/T oil cooler hoses from the radiator. Make sure to plug the transmission hoses to prevent oil from escaping.
  18.  
  19. Remove the two bolts and the two upper radiator supports.
  20.  
  21. Remove the radiator with the fan(s) from the engine compartment.
  22.  
  23. Remove the two lower radiator supports and the lower radiator hose.
  24.  
  25. Remove the No. 2 cooling fan from the radiator by removing the three bolts.
  26.  
  27. Remove the No. 1 cooling fan from the radiator by removing the two bolts.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Install the No. 1 cooling fan to the radiator by installing the two bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the No. 2 cooling fan to the radiator by installing the three bolts.
  4.  
  5. Install the two lower radiator supports and the lower radiator hose. Make sure clamp for the radiator hose is around the radiator.
  6.  
  7. Install the radiator and fans in the engine compartment.
  8.  
  9. Install the two upper radiator supports and two bolts to the radiator and radiator support. Tighten the bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Clamp the two A/T oil cooler hoses to the radiator, if equipped.
  12.  
  13. Connect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  14.  
  15. Install the reservoir tank assembly.
  16.  
  17. Connect the No. 1 cooling fan connector.
  18.  
  19. If equipped with A/C, connect the No. 2 cooling fan connector.
  20.  
  21. Install the engine undercovers and the intake air duct.
  22.  
  23. Fill the radiator with engine coolant.
  24.  
  25. Connect the battery negative cable and start the engine. Top off engine coolant when engine is hot.
  26.  
  27. Verify fan operation and check for leaks.
