  2.
  3. With the scan tool, record and erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's).
  4.
  5. Turn the ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition ON.
  6.
  7. Try to operate the window several times.

  8.
  9. If the results are not according to specification, replace the switch.
    NOTE
The power window master switch has an Auto-Down feature. The switch is equipped with 2 detent positions when actuating the power window OPEN. The first detent position allows the window to roll down and stop when the switch is released. The second detent position actuates an integral express roll down relay that rolls the window down after the switch is released. When the express down circuit senses stall current (window has reached the end of the down travel), the switch will turn the current off to the motor. The AUTO feature can be cancelled by actuating the switch UP or DOWN while the window is in motion. If the electronic circuit in the switch fails to detect a stall current, the auto down circuit will time out within 9-13 seconds.

Window Motor & Regulator

Specific to:

Chrysler Town & Country 2008-2009

Dodge Grand Caravan 2008-2009

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  4.
  5. Remove the trim panel from the door with the inoperative power window.
  6.
  7. Unplug the power window motor wire harness connector.
  8.
  9. Apply 12-volt battery voltage and a ground to the motor terminals to check the motor operation in one direction. Reverse the connections across the motor terminals to check the operation in the other direction.
    1. If the window is in the full up or full down position, the motor will not operate in that direction by design.
    2.
    3. If the motor functions OK, repair the circuits from the power window motor to the power window switch as required.
    4.
    5. If not OK, replace the inoperative motor.
    6.

  10.
  11. If the motor operates in both directions, check the operation of the window glass and lift mechanism through its complete up and down travel. There should be no binding or sticking of the window glass or lift mechanism through the entire travel range. If not OK, check the window glass, tracks, and regulator for sticking, binding, or improper adjustment.
