Headlights



Removal & Installation
Assembly

Specific to:

Chrysler Town & Country 2008-2009

Complete removal of the front fascia is necessary to remove the front headlight unit.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  4.  
  5. Release the hood latch and open the hood.
  6.  
  7. Hoist the vehicle and support with safety stands.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front wheelhouse splash shield fasteners (6, 7), as necessary, to gain access to the bolts attaching the front fascia to the fender (5).
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 push-pins attaching the fascia to the upper core support.
  12.  
  13. Remove the push-pins attaching the fascia to the lower support.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the fog lamp wire connectors, if necessary.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness, if equipped, at the front rail support.
  18.  
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20.  
  21. Remove the grille/bumper fascia (1) from the vehicle.

  23. Remove the 3 retaining bolts (1) from the headlight unit.

  25. Remove the 4 retaining bolts (3) from the front lamp/fascia support bracket and remove the bracket.

  27. Pull the front lamp assembly forward to access the rear of the unit.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the turn signal, marker lamp, headlight, and High Intensity Discharge Lamp (HID) connector (if equipped), and remove the front lamp unit from its mounting.
  30.  

To install:

  1. Reconnect the turn signal, marker lamp, headlight, and HID connectors.
  2.  
  3. Install the front lamp assembly into its mounting location.
  4.  
  5. Install the 3 retaining screws (1) into the front lamp assembly.
  6.  
  7. Position the front lamp/fascia support bracket and install the 4 retaining bolts (3).
  8.  
  9. Close the hood and align the headlamp unit for proper fit to the hood and fender.
    NOTE
    If necessary, slightly loosen the headlamp mounting bolts and the fascia support bracket for a proper fit and finish.

  10.  
  11. Check the headlamp aiming after the installation of the headlight unit.
  12.  
  13. Position the grille/ bumper fascia (1) on the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Reconnect the electrical wiring harness, if equipped, at the front rail support.
  16.  
  17. Reconnect the fog lamp wire connectors, if necessary.
  18.  
  19. Install the 2 bolts and 2 push-pins attaching the fascia to the upper core support. Tighten the bolts to 49 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  20.  
  21. Install the bolts attaching the front fascia to the fender (5). Tighten the bolts to 49 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  22.  
  23. Install the front wheelhouse splash shield fasteners (6, 7).
  24.  
  25. Install the push-pins attaching the fascia to the lower support.
  26.  
  27. Lower the vehicle.

Bulb

Specific to:

Chrysler Town & Country 2008-2009

The Chrysler headlamps use a quad system. Both high and low beam bulbs can be serviced from the rear of the headlamp unit.


CAUTION
Eye protection should be used when servicing glass components. Personal injury or death can result.


WARNING
Do not touch the glass of halogen bulbs with bare fingers or another oily surface; reduced bulb life will result. Do not use bulbs other than the original type. Do not use fuses, circuit breakers, or relays having greater amperage value than indicated on the fuse panel or in the Owner-s Manual.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  4.  
  5. Raise the hood to access the rear of the headlamp unit
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiring connector from the bulb.
  8.  
  9. Rotate the headlamp bulb counter-clockwise.
  10.  
  11. Pull the headlamp bulb and remove it from the headlamp unit.

To install:

  1. Install the headlamp bulb to the headlamp unit.
  2.  
  3. Rotate the bulb clockwise to lock the bulb in the headlamp unit.
  4.  
  5. Connect the wiring connector to the bulb and slide the red latch lock forward.
  6.  
  7. Connect the battery negative cable.
  8.  

Tail Lights



Removal & Installation

There are a total of 2 bulbs in the taillight unit:



Back-Up Lamp (1) (Dodge)
 
Tail, Stop, and Turn signal (2) (Dodge)
 
Tail, Stop, and Turn signal (1) (Chrysler)
 
Back-Up Lamp (2) (Chrysler)
 

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  4.  
  5. Raise the liftgate.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 retaining screws (2).
  8.  
  9. Insert a trim stick, or equivalent, to gently pry the lamp unit away from the body and rotate the lamp (1) away from the vehicle body to disengage the pin from the grommet in the quarter panel opening.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the 2 wiring harness connectors from taillight assembly (3).

  13. Remove the bulb socket from the tail lamp unit by twisting 1 / 4 turn counterclockwise.
  14.  
  15. Pull the socket straight out of the tail lamp unit.
  16.  
  17. Pull the bulb from the socket.

To install:

  1. Push the correct type of replacement bulb into the bulb socket.
  2.  
  3. Install the bulb socket into the tail lamp assembly. Rotate the socket clockwise 1 / 4 turn until fully seated.
  4.  
  5. Connect the 2 wiring harness connectors to the tail lamp assembly (3).
  6.  
  7. Rotate the lamp (1) toward the vehicle body to engage the upper locating pin first, then engage the lower pin to ensure proper seating into the grommet in the quarter panel opening.
  8.  
  9. Install the 2 retaining screws (2).
  10.  
  11. Close the liftgate.
  12.  
  13. Connect the battery negative cable.
  14.
