Removal & Installation

  1. Disarm the SRS system. For additional information, please refer to the following topic(s): -CHASSIS ELECTRICAL, Air Bag (Supplemental Restraint System)-.
    CAUTION
    Work must NOT be started until after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative battery cable is disconnected from the battery. The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source so that if the work is started within the 90 seconds of disconnecting the negative terminal, the SRS may be deployed.

  3. Remove the glove compartment door by removing the two screws. Disconnect the front passenger airbag connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the three screws and remove the blower motor.

To install:

  1. Install the blower motor with the three screws.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the front passenger airbag connector.
  4.  
  5. Install the glove compartment door.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

  5. Remove the upper center console rear panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper center console panel sub-assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the center console upper garnish panels.
  10.  
  11. Remove the center console.
  12.  
  13. Remove the right side cowl trim.
  14.  
  15. Remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover.
  16.  
  17. Remove the screw to release glove compartment door. Deform the upper part of the glove compartment door to release the stoppers. Pull the glove compartment door upward to remove it.

  19. Remove the No. 2 lower instrument finish panel.
  20.  
  21. Remove the No. 2 instrument panel register.
  22.  
  23. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the Instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly. Remove the three claw fittings and remove the air duct No.2.
  24.  
  25. Release the seven clamps and disconnect the blower assembly electrical connectors.
  26.  
  27. Remove the blower assembly mounting bolt, screws and nut.
  28.  
  29. Release the claw fitting and remove the blower assembly.

  31. Remove the blower damper servo from the blower assembly.

  33. Remove the blower motor control unit from the assembly.
  34.  
  35. Remove the three screws to remove the blower motor from the blower assembly.

  37. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the blower motor assembly bolt to 87 inch lbs. (9.8 Nm) and the nut to 48 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
