Power Windows

Diagnosis & Testing
2001-02 Models

NOTE
The power window system uses a relay and a fuse. If the power window is inoperative, these are the first places to look.

  1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check that the motor turns clockwise. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
  2.
  3. If the operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

2003-05 Models

If all the door glasses do not operate or if the operation function after the ignition switch is turned OFF does not operate, no power may be supplied to the power window master switch or the power window master switch itself may malfunction.

  1. Inspect the power window fuse from the instrument panel fuse block. Replace if the fuse is bad.
  2.
  3. If the fuse is ok, inspect the power window relay from the backside of the instrument panel junction block. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between terminals 1 and 2.
  4.
  5. If the relay is ok, check the junction block. With the power window relay removed, turn the ignition switch to ON . Using a voltmeter, check the voltage between terminals 1 and 2. Voltage should read between 10V and 14V. Replace the junction block if voltage is not correct.
  6.
  7. If the junction is ok, disconnect the power window regulator switch. Use a multimeter to check the continuity and voltage between each terminal of the wiring harness connector and the body ground.
