Evacuating the System

Fig. Connect the center hose of the manifold to the vacuum pump and the high and low and low pressure hoses to the appropriate service valves

  1. Connect the quick disconnect adapter to the charging hoses.
  2.  
  3. Remove the caps from the service valves on the refrigerant lines.
  4.  
  5. Close both hand valves of the manifold gauge set and connect the quick disconnect adapters to the service valves.
  6.  
  7. Connect the vacuum pump adapter to the vacuum pump.
  8.  
  9. Connect the center hose of the manifold gauge set to the vacuum pump adapter.
  10.  
  11. Open both the high and low hand valves and run the vacuum pump.
  12.  
  13. After 10 minutes or more, check that the low pressure gauge indicates 750 mmHg (30 in. Hg) or more.
    NOTE
    If the reading 750 mmHg (30 in. Hg) or more, close both hand valves of manifold gauge set and stop the vacuum pump. Check the system for leaks and repair necessary.

  15. Close both the high and low hand valves and stop the vacuum pump.
  16.  
  17. Leave the system in this condition for 5 minutes or more and check that there is no gauge indicator.
