  1. Using a suitable jack, raise and support the rear axle housing and support the frame with a suitable jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the parking brake cable bracket from the rear axle housing.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolt, two washers and two bushings, holding the shock absorber to the rear axle housing and disconnect the shock absorber. Holding the shock firmly to keep it from turning, remove the upper mounting nut, retainers and cushions. Remove the shock.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the stabilizer bar brackets.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the lateral control rod from the frame.
  12.  
  13. Slowly lower the rear axle housing and remove the coil spring.
  14.  

To install:

  1. With the axle housing lowered, install the coil spring. Raise the axle housing high enough to connect the rear suspension components.
  2.  
  3. Connect the lateral control rod.
  4.  
  5. Connect the stabilizer bar brackets and tighten the bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the shock absorbers.
  8.  
  9. Connect the parking brake cable bracket and tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle. Tighten the lug nuts to 83 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).

  1. Using a suitable jack, raise and support the rear axle housing. Support the frame with a suitable jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Separate the shock absorber from the rear axle.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the two rear brake lines from each of the flexible hoses. Be prepared to catch brake fluid when you disconnect the lines.
  8.  
  9. Slowly lower the rear axle housing and remove the coil spring.
  10.  

To install:

  1. With the axle housing lowered, install the coil spring. Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the gap of the spring lower seat. Raise the axle housing high enough to connect the rear suspension components.
  2.  
  3. Connect the shock absorber and temporarily tighten the bolt.
  4.  
  5. Connect the rear brake lines.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle. Tighten the lug nuts to 83 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the lower shock mounting bolt to 72 ft. lbs. (98 Nm).
  10.
