Testing



2.2L (5S-FE) VIN G
  1. Apply vacuum to the throttle opener.
  2.  
  3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.

  5. If necessary, adjust the TPS as follows:
    1. Loosen the 2 set screws of the sensor.
    2.  
    3. Insert a 0.60 mm (0.024 in.) feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever.
    4.  
    5. Connect the tester probe of an ohmmeter to the terminals IDL and E2 of the sensor.
    6.  
    7. Gradually turn the sensor clockwise until the ohmmeter deflects, and secure it with the 2 set screws.
    8.

  7. Recheck the continuity between terminals IDL and E2.

  1. Apply vacuum to the throttle opener.
  2.  
  3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.

  5. If necessary, adjust the TPS as follows:
    1. Loosen the 2 set screws of the sensor.
    2.  
    3. Insert a 0.60 mm (0.024 in.) feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever.
    4.  
    5. Connect the tester probe of an ohmmeter to the terminals IDL and E2 of the sensor.
    6.  
    7. Gradually turn the sensor clockwise until the ohmmeter deflects, and secure it with the 2 set screws.
    8.

  7. Recheck the continuity between terminals IDL and E2.

3.0L (1MZ-FE) VIN F
  1. Apply vacuum to the throttle opener.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Insert a feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever.
  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.
  8.  
  9. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
  10.  
  11. Reconnect the sensor connector.

  1. Apply vacuum to the throttle opener.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sensor connector.
  4.

  9. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.

  11. Reconnect the sensor connector.

  1. Apply vacuum to the throttle opener.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Insert a feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever.
  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.
  8.  
  9. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
  10.  
  11. Reconnect the sensor connector.
