Door Glass and Regulator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Door

See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front door panel to gain access to the regulator assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the service hole cover.
  6.  
  7. Lower the regulator until the door glass is in the fully open position.
  8.  
  9. Remove the two glass channel mount bolts.
  10.

  1. Pull the glass up and out of the door.
  2.  
  3. If equipped, unbolt and remove the inside door panel frame.
  4.

  1. If equipped with power windows, disconnect the electrical wiring.

  1. Remove the equalizer arm bracket mounting bolts.
  2.  
  3. Remove the window regulator mounting bolts and remove the regulator (with the power window motor attached) through the service hole.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Coat all the window regulator sliding surfaces with multi-purpose grease.
  2.  
  3. Place the regulator (with the power window motor) through the service hole and install the mounting bolts. Connect the power window connector if equipped.
  4.  
  5. Place the door glass into the door cavity.
  6.  
  7. Connect the glass to the regulator with the channel mount bolts.
  8.  
  9. With the equalizer arm, raise the glass to the almost closed position and make sure that the leading and trailing edges of the glass are equidistant from the top of the glass channel. If not, adjust the equalizer arm to achieve an even fit.
  10.  
  11. Install the service hole cover.
  12.  
  13. Install the door panel and reconnect the negative battery cable.
  14.  

Rear Door
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  

  1. Remove the front door panel to gain access to the regulator assembly.
  2.  
  3. Remove the service hole cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the clips from the outer edge of the belt molding and remove the rear door belt molding from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the door glass run.
  8.  
  9. Remove the division bar by removing the two screws under the weatherstripping, the screw from the panel and pulling the glass run from the division bar. Pull the bar from the door.
  10.  
  11. Remove the glass mounting screws and remove the door glass.
  12.  
  13. To remove the quarter window, remove the glass along with the weatherstrip by pulling assembly forward.
  14.  
  15. To remove the regulator, unbolt from door panel and remove from vehicle. If equipped with power windows, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the regulator with the power window motor attached.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the glass down into the door cavity.
  2.  
  3. Install the quarter window and weatherstrip into the door frame.
  4.  
  5. Place the regulator (with the power window motor) through the service hole and install the mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Place the door glass in the door cavity.
  8.  
  9. Connect the glass to the regulator with the channel mount bolts.
  10.  
  11. Install the rear door belt molding and the door glass run.
  12.  
  13. With the equalizer arm, raise the glass to the almost closed position and make sure that the leading and trailing edges of the glass are equidistant from the top of the glass channel. If not, adjust the equalizer arm to achieve an even fit.
  14.  
  15. With the door glass fully closed, adjust the door glass stopper so it lightly makes contact with the glass plate.
  16.  
  17. Install the division bar in the door and secure with the two screws and the bolt.
  18.  
  19. Install the service hole cover.
  20.  
  21. Install the door panel and connect the negative battery cable.
  22.  
  23. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  24.
