Rear Speed Sensor

Testing
  1. Remove the rear seat cushion and side seat back.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the speed sensor wiring harness from the switch.
  4.  
  5. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the speed sensor connector. Resistance should be 1.2-2.3 kilohms
  6.  
  7. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the speed sensor connector and body ground. Resistance should be 1.0 milohm or higher.

  1. If the resistance is not within specifications, replace the sensor.
  2.  
  3. Check that the continuity between each terminal and the sensor body is 1 milohm.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion and seatback.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sensor cable connector, then pull out the sensor wire harness with the grommet.
  4.  
  5. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wheel and tire.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 clamp bolts holding the sensor cable to the body and shock. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Place the speed sensor into position on the axle carrier. Tighten the mounting bolt to 69 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Feed the harness connector through to the interior and connect the harnesses together.
  4.  
  5. Install the grommet securely. Install the sensor harness with clamps and bolts and tighten to 48 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
