Master Cylinder

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Wipe off and remove the reservoir tank cap.
  2.  
  3. Draw the fluid from the master cylinder with a syringe.
  4.

  1. Disconnect the clutch line tube fitting, using a line wrench. You may have to remove the pedal return spring.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lower instrument panel finish panel and disconnect the air duct from the panel if applicable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the clip and clevis pin with the spring washer.
  6.  
  7. Remove the mounting nuts and remove the master cylinder.
  8.  

To install the master cylinder:

  1. Install the master cylinder and tighten the mounting nuts to approximately 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the clutch line tube and tighten the fitting to approximately 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the clevis and secure the clevis pin with the clip.
  6.  
  7. Install the pedal return spring if applicable.
  8.  
  9. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the clutch system as described in this Section. Install the cap.
  10.  
  11. Check for leaks.
  12.  
  13. Check and adjust the clutch pedal.
  14.  
  15. Connect the air duct to the lower instrument panel and install the panel.
