  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. On vehicles equipped with an air bag, wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding.
  2.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.
  5. Working from under the vehicle, remove the bolts holding the front exhaust pipe to the mounting bracket.
  6.
  7. Using a 14mm deep socket wrench, remove the nuts and the gasket and disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the manifold.
  8.
  9. Disconnect the main oxygen sensor connector and the sub oxygen sensor connector.
  10.
  11. Remove the bolt and nut and remove the left-hand exhaust manifold stay.
  12.
  13. Remove the bolts and the upper manifold heat insulator.
  14.
  15. Remove the bolts, nuts, and the right-hand exhaust manifold stay.
  16.
  17. Remove the nuts, the exhaust manifold, and the 3-way catalytic converter assembly.
  18.
  19. Remove the nuts, oxygen sensor and gasket from the exhaust manifold.
  20.
  21. Remove the sub oxygen sensor from the 3-way catalytic converter.
  22.
  23. Remove the bolts and the lower heat insulator from the exhaust manifold.
  24.
  25. Remove the bolts and the 3-way catalytic converter heat insulators.
  26.
  27. Remove the bolts, nuts, 3-way Catalytic Converter (TWC), gasket, retainer and cushion from the exhaust manifold.
  28.

To install:

  1. Place the cushion, retainer, and a new gasket on the TWC and reinstall it to the exhaust manifold with the bolts and the nuts. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install the lower manifold heat insulator with the bolts and install the TWC heat insulators with the bolts.
  4.
  5. Install the main oxygen sensor to the exhaust manifold with a new gasket and new nuts. Tighten the nuts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  6.
  7. Install the sub oxygen sensor to the front TWC and tighten to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
  8.
  9. Install a new gasket, the exhaust manifold and front TWC assembly to the engine with the nuts. Uniformly tighten the nuts in several passes. Tighten the nuts to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
  10.
  11. Install the right-hand exhaust manifold stay with the bolts and new nuts. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm).
  12.
  13. Install the upper heat insulator with the bolts.
  14.
  15. Install the left-hand exhaust manifold stay with the bolt and nut. Tighten the bolt to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm) and tighten the nut to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm).
  16.
  17. Connect the main and the sub oxygen sensors connectors.
  18.
  19. Install the front exhaust pipe with a new gasket to the TWC. Install the nuts using a 14mm deep socket wrench. Tighten the nuts to 46 ft. lbs. (62 Nm).
  20.
  21. Secure the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust pipe bracket with the bolts. Tighten the bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  22.
  23. Lower the vehicle safely and reconnect the negative battery cable.
  24.
  25. Start the engine and be sure that there are no exhaust leaks.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
  2.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.
  5. Remove the engine undercovers from the vehicle.
  6.
  7. From below the engine, disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold by removing the 2 nuts.
  8.
  9. If necessary, lower the vehicle to access the top of the engine.
  10.
  11. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe from the exhaust manifold by removing the 4 nuts.
  12.
  13. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector to the right exhaust manifold.
  14.
