TESTING



1986-89 Vehicles
  1. Using an ohmmeter, check to see that there is continuity between terminals A and B four times per each revolution of the meter shaft.
  2.  
  3. If the continuity between the terminals (which are located on the back of the instrument panel) is not as specified, replace the speedometer.

1990-93 Vehicles With Manual Transaxle
  1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 of the No. 1 speed sensor.
  2.  
  3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to the negative battery terminal.
  4.  
  5. Revolve the shaft.
  6.  
  7. Check that there is approximately 5 volts, four times with each revolution of the shaft.
  8.  
  9. If the operation is not as specified, replace the sensor.

1990-93 Vehicles With Automatic Transaxle
  1. Using an ohmmeter, check to see that there is continuity between terminals A and B four times per each revolution of the meter shaft.

  3. If the continuity between terminals A and B (which are located on the back of the instrument panel) is not as specified, replace the speedometer.
