Timing Belt Cover and Crankshaft Oil Seal

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Remove the right front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fender apron liner and right engine under cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the drive belts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cruise control actuator and bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the power steering reservoir and the alternator, if necessary for clearance.
  10.  
  11. Remove the crankshaft pulley, using the proper procedures.
  12.  
  13. Remove the bolts and remove the lower timing belt cover with the gasket. Remove the upper cover first, if necessary, to remove the lower cover.
  14.  
  15. Using the proper procedures, remove the timing belt and timing belt guide.
  16.  
  17. Remove the crankshaft timing pulley. Use shop towels to prevent damage to the pulley.
  18.  
  19. Using a cutting tool, cut off the oil seal lip.
  20.  
  21. Using a prying tool, pry out the oil seal. Tape the tool tip to avoid damage to the crankshaft.
  22.  

To install:

  1. To install, apply multi-purpose grease to the lip of the seal.
  2.  
  3. Using a seal driver, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the oil pump case edge.
  4.  
  5. Install the crankshaft timing pulley, aligning the pulley set key with the key groove of the pulley. Make sure the flange side faces inward.
  6.  
  7. Reverse the remaining removal procedures to complete installation.
  8.
