Hatchback or Trunk Lid

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Open the hatchback or trunk lid completely.
  2.

  1. Remove the inner trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the combination light and the electric solenoid as required. Remove the harness and position out of the way.
  4.  
  5. Scribe the hinge location on the hatchback or trunk lid to aid in installation.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the damper stay from the hatchback or trunk lid and position out of the way. Disconnect the rear defroster connector, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Remove the hatchback-to-hinge bolts and remove the hatchback or trunk lid from the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the hatchback or trunk lid on the vehicle and align the scribe marks.
  2.

  1. Install the hinge bolts and secure tightly.
  2.  
  3. Install the damper stay to the hatchback or trunk lid attaching the upper end to the hatchback or trunk lid first.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the electrical harness as required.
  6.  
  7. Install the interior trim panel.
  8.  
  9. Close the hatchback or trunk lid slowly to check for proper alignment, and adjust as required.
  10.  

ADJUSTMENT



Trunk Lid
  1. Adjust lid in forward/rearward and left/right directions by loosening the lid side hinge bolts.
  2.  
  3. Adjust lid in vertical direction by increasing or decreasing the number of shims.
  4.  
  5. Adjust striker by loosening the bolts.
  6.  

Hatchback
  1. To adjust the hatchback in forward/rearward and left/right directions, loosen the hinge bolts and position the hatchback as required.
  2.  
  3. Adjust the door in vertical direction by increasing or decreasing the number of the shims.
  4.  
  5. To adjust the hatchback lock, loosen the mounting screws and hit the lock with a plastic hammer. Tighten the mounting screws again.
  6.
