Toyota Celica 1986-1993 Repair Guide

All models have the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stamped on a plate which is attached to the left side of the instrument panel. This plate is visible through the windshield. The VIN is the legal identifier of your vehicle. The VIN consists of seventeen symbols (letters and numbers). The first two digits "JT" of the vin are standard on all Toyota manufactured vehicles, and they represent "Japan Toyota". The remaining fifteen digits are a combination of alpha/numerical codes that provide information ranging from the vehicle designation to the frame number.
