REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 1

  1. Loosen the rear wheel lugnuts on the side of the vehicle you are performing work on.

  1. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle. Remove the wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear caliper assembly.
  4.  
  5. Pull off the rear brake disc.
  6.  
  7. Remove the parking brake shoes.
  8.  
  9. Using pliers, disconnect the parking brake cable form the parking brake shoe lever.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake shoe lever of the rear shoe.
  2.  
  3. Install the parking brake shoes.
  4.  
  5. Install the rear brake disc. Adjust the parking brake shoe clearance.
  6.  
  7. Attach the rear caliper assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle and settle the parking brake shoes and disc.
  10.  
  11. Recheck and adjust the parking brake lever.
  12.  

ADJUSTMENT

Adjusting the parking brake cables can be done from inside the vehicle.

  1. Pull the parking brake lever all the way up and count the number of clicks. The correct number of clicks should be 4-7.
  2.

Before adjusting the parking brake, make sure the rear shoe clearance has been adjusted. for shoe clearance adjustment, refer to the procedure later in this section.

  1. Remove the console box.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting nut until the lever travel is correct.
  4.

  1. Tighten the locknut to 48 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the console box.
  4.
