REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
See Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
- Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts.
- Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
- Remove the rear wheel.
- Remove the nut from the axle carrier. Remove the mounting bolts from the strut rod and disconnect from the carrier.
- Remove the 2 nuts and washers for the No. 2 lower control arm.
- Support the suspension member with a jack. Remove the 4 nuts and 2 nuts from the suspension member. Lower the suspension member.
- Remove the No. 1 arm with the 2 bolts and washer.
- Install the No. 1 arm with the washer and two bolts. Face the paint mark towards the rear. Do not tighten at this time.
- Jack up the suspension member. Install the member and secure with the nuts and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). Tighten the nuts to 101 ft. lbs. (137 Nm).
- Face the paint mark on the No. 2 suspension arm toward the rear of the vehicle. Temporarily install the two lock nuts.
- Connect the strut bar to the axle carrier and temporarily install the bolt and nut.
- Tighten the nut on the outside of the lower arms to 145 ft. lbs. (197 Nm).
- Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle. Bounce the suspension up and down a few times.
- Jack up the vehicle and support the body with stands.
- Remove the rear wheel. Support the rear axle carrier with a jack. Tighten the nut on the outside of the lower arm to 145 ft. lbs. (197 Nm). Tighten the strut rod set bolts to 83 ft. lbs. (113 Nm).
- Install the rear wheel and lower the vehicle. Tighten the lug nuts.
- Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment.
- Tighten the No. 2 lower arm and locknuts to 145 ft. lbs. (197 Nm) if necessary.
