Power Mirrors



Removal & Installation
  1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds from the time the negative battery was disconnected to start work.
  2.  


CAUTION
All models are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in Section 6.

  1. Remove the delta cover; that's the triangular black inner cover. It can be removed with a blunt plastic or wooden tool. Don't use a metal prytool; the plastic will be marred.

  1. Depending on the style of mirror, there may be concealment plugs or other minor parts under the delta cover-remove them.
  2.  
  3. You may need to remove the door inner panel to access the electrical wiring harness for the mirror.
  4.  
  5. Support the mirror housing from the outside and remove the three bolts or nuts holding the mirror to the door.
  6.

  1. If the wiring to the electric mirror was not disconnected previously, detach it now. Some connectors can only be reached after the mirror is free of the door. Remove the mirror assembly.
  2.  

To install:

  1. Fit the mirror to the door and install the nuts and bolts to hold it. Connect the wiring harnesses if they are on the outside of the door. Pay particular attention to the placement and alignment of any gaskets or weather-strips around the mirror; serious wind noises may result from careless work.
  2.  
  3. If the wiring connectors are on the inside of the door, plug them back together and install any concealment plugs, dust boots or seals which were removed. Attach the door inner panel if removed.
  4.  
  5. Install the delta cover and install the control lever, if it was removed.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Cycle the mirror several times to make sure that it works properly.
  10.  

Motor
  1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 clips and 3 claws, and remove the armrest.
  2.  
  3. Using a screwdriver, disengage the clip and 5 claws, and remove the armrest upper panel with the power window regulator master switch.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 3 screws and switch.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front armrest base panel upper. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws, and remove the armrest panel together with the door lock switch.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the door lock switch connector.
  12.  
  13. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws, and remove the door switch.
  14.  
  15. Insert a clip remover between the plate and trim
  16.  
  17. Maintain the position and turn the handle as shown in the illustration to remove the handle.
  18.  
  19. Using a screwdriver, disengage the clip and claw, and remove the garnish.
  20.  
  21. Remove the 3 screws on the door trim board subassembly.
  22.  
  23. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 8 clips and remove the trim board upward.
  24.  
  25. Using a screwdriver, disengage the door inside handle assembly.
  26.  
  27. Move the inside handle in the direction indicated by the arrow mark in the illustration. This will release the claw and allow removal of the inside handle.

  29. Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle.
  30.  
  31. Disconnect each connector, and remove the front door service hole cover.
  32.  
  33. Disconnect the outer mirror connector.
  34.  
  35. Remove the 3 nuts and outer mirror.
  36.  
  37. Remove the front door belt molding.
  38.  
  39. Disconnect the speaker connector.
  40.  
  41. Using a drill of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), drill out the 3 rivet heads and remove the speaker.
  42.  
  43. Remove the 3 screws and plate for the inside door panel plate.
  44.  
  45. Insert a cushion inside the door panel to prevent the glass from being scratched and remove the glass sub-assembly.
  46.  
  47. Move the door glass until the 2 bolts appear in the service holes and remove the 2 bolts.

  49. Remove the door glass

  51. Disconnect the window regulator connector.
  52.  
  53. Remove the 6 bolts and window regulator.
  54.  
  55. Place matchmarks on the window regulator motor bracket and regulator gear.
  56.  
  57. Using a "torx" driver (T25), remove the 3 screws and motor.
  58.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal.
  2.  

Removal & Installation



Both left and right outside mirrors may be either manual, manual remote (small lever on the inside to adjust the mirror) or electric remote. If the mirror glass is damaged, replacements may be available through your dealer or a reputable glass shop in your area. If the plastic housing is damaged or cracked, the entire unit will need to be replaced.

Manual & Electric
  1. Remove the set screw and the adjustment knob, if equipped.
  2.  
  3. Remove the delta cover; that's the triangular black inner cover. It can be removed with a blunt plastic or wooden tool. Don't use a metal prytool; the plastic will be marred.

  5. Depending on the style of mirror, there may be concealment plugs or other minor parts under the delta cover-remove them.
  6.  
  7. Support the mirror housing from the outside and remove the bolts or nuts holding the mirror to the door.

  9. Remove the mirror assembly.
  10.  

To install:
