Tie Rod Ends



  1. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts.
  2.  
  3. Raise the front of the vehicle and support the body with safety stands.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front wheels.
  6.  
  7. With a wire brush remove all the dirt and grease from the tie rod end, clamp bolt or lock nut and threads.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cotter pin from the tie rod end and discard.
  10.

  1. Use white crayon or similar marker to place alignment marks on the tie rods and rack ends.

  1. Loosen but do NOT remove the castellated nut from the tie rod end.

  1. Place a suitable puller around the ball of the tie rod end and force the shaft out.
  2.

  1. Lift the tie rod out of the control arm and inspect the nut threads.
