REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the neutral start switch.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the speedometer cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the shift control cable.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the oil cooler hose.
  12.  
  13. Remove the water inlet pipe.
  14.  
  15. Raise and support the vehicle on jackstands.
  16.  
  17. Drain the fluid.
  18.  
  19. Remove the engine undercover.
  20.  
  21. Remove the front and rear transaxle mounts.
  22.  
  23. Support the transaxle with a jack.
  24.  
  25. Remove the engine center support member.
  26.  
  27. Remove the halfshafts.
  28.  
  29. Remove the steering knuckles.
  30.  
  31. Remove the starter motor.
  32.  
  33. Remove the flywheel cover plate.
  34.  
  35. Remove the 6 torque converter bolts, through the opening covered by the cover plate.
  36.  
  37. Remove the left engine mount.
  38.  
  39. Remove the transaxle-to-engine bolts, then slowly and carefully back the transaxle away from the engine.
  40.  
  41. Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe the following torques:

    Transaxle-to-engine bolts: 12mm 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm): 10mm 25 ft. lbs. (35 Nm)
     
    Torque converter bolts: 13 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)

  43. Fill the unit with Dexron II ATF.
