Pressure Regulator

The pressure regulator maintains correct fuel pressure throughout the system. The regulator is vacuum controlled to provide a relatively constant pressure differential.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Relieve fuel pressure.
  2.  
  3. Place a suitable container under the union and pipe support.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose from the top of the regulator.
  6.

  1. Disconnect the fuel return hose and plug the pipe.
  2.  
  3. Remove the union bolt from the regulator.
  4.  
  5. Unscrew the two regulator mounting bolts and lift out the regulator.
  6.  
  7. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
  10.  

TESTING



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the wiring connector from the cold start injector.
  4.  
  5. Place a suitable container under the front end of the delivery pipe and slowly remove the union bolt for the cold start injector. Drain all of the fuel in the delivery pipe.
  6.  
  7. Install a fuel pressure gauge in the union bolt's place, connect the battery cable and start the engine.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose from the pressure regulator and block it off.
  10.  
  11. Measure the fuel pressure at idle. It should be 33-38 psi. If the pressure is high, replace the regulator.
  12.  
  13. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
