Seat Belt System

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Front Seat
  1. Remove trim cover at upper shoulder anchor bolt.
  2.  
  3. Remove the anchor bolts.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower cover on the outer retractor. Unbolt the retractor from the inner floor panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the retractor portion of the seat belt.
  8.  
  9. To remove the buckle end of the seat belt, remove the cover on the base of the belt and remove the mounting bolt.
  10.  
  11. Installation of the belts is the reverse of the removal procedure. Torque the upper shoulder mounting bolt to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm), the lower retractor mounting bolt to 9 ft. lbs. (13 Nm), and the buckle retainer bolt to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).

  13. Do not remove safety belts from any vehicle. Inspection of the seat belts for proper operation is recommended for the safety and is required in most states by law.

Rear Seat
  1. Remove trim cover at upper shoulder anchor bolt.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper shoulder anchor bolt.
  4.  
  5. Unbolt the outer belt anchor from the body panel. Removal of the rear seat is required. Unbolt the lower end of the belt under the retractor from the side panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the retractor portion of the seat belt.
  8.  
  9. To remove the center belt buckle, remove the seat cushion and the center belt mounting bolt.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque all belt mounting bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).
