Back-Up Light Switch

The reverse light or back-up light switch is mounted on the side of the transmission housing. Its removal and replacement is easily accomplished by disconnecting the wiring connector from the switch and unscrewing the switch from the case (always replace the mounting gasket below it). A specially sized socket or an equivalent removal tool may be necessary for this service operation. Install the new switch and tighten it 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm). Reinstall the electrical connector. Turn key to the ON position, depress clutch pedal and place shifter in REVERSE position. Check operation of back-up lights.
