REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the steering wheel.
  2.  
  3. On some models it may be necessary to remove the left side dash trim panel. Unplug the turn signal/combination switch wiring and all electrical connections.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the hole cover clamp screw.
  6.  
  7. Remove the air filter assembly if necessary. Remove the pinch bolt from the yoke.
  8.  
  9. Remove the yoke from the steering gear.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolts holding the lower column mounting brackets.
  12.  
  13. Remove the bolts holding the upper column to the instrument panel.
  14.  
  15. Remove the column from the vehicle.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Place the column assembly into position and install the upper and lower bracket nuts and bolts finger-tight.
  2.  
  3. Position the column assembly so the end of the lower support holes touch the mounting bolts.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the upper and lower support nuts and bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the yoke and tighten the pinch bolt to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm). Install the air filter, as necessary.
  8.  
  9. Install the hole cover clamp.
  10.  
  11. Install the combination switch and all electrical connections.
  12.  
  13. Install the steering wheel. Install side dash trim panel as necessary.
  14.
