  1. Disconnect both of the fuel lines from the pump.
  2.  
  3. Unfasten the bolts which attach the fuel pump to the cylinder block.
  4.  
  5. Withdraw the pump assembly.
  6.  
  7. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Always use a new gasket when installing the fuel pump. After the pump is installed check its discharge rate against the Tune-Up Specifications chart in .

Some pumps are equipped with a fuel return cut valve installed. This valve is designed to vary the amount of fuel returned to the gas tank according to the engine load. It helps to avoid gas percolation when the engine is hot and lightly loaded.

Failure to use a gasket of the correct thickness could result in an improper pump discharge rate.
