Depending on the particular model, there are two types of methods for attaching the cable to the speedometer. One is the conventional screw-in type, while the other employs a locking lever to secure the cable.

  1. Remove the instrument cluster and disconnect the cable from the speedometer.
  2.  

On some models, cable disconnection can be accomplished by simply reaching under the dash. If possible, this method is much easier than removing the entire instrument cluster.

  1. Feed the cable through its hold in the firewall and then trace it down to where it connects to the transmission.
  2.  
  3. Unscrew the cable from the transmission end.
  4.  
  5. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
