  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the fan belt adjusting bolt and nut of the power steering pump and alternator. Remove the alternator pivot nut and adjusting bar.
  6.  
  7. Remove the air cleaner case.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 4 fan shroud bolts.
  12.  
  13. Remove the 4 bolts from the fluid coupling (fan clutch) flange.
  14.  
  15. Pull out the fan clutch along with the fan shroud.
  16.  
  17. Remove the fan belt guide, water pump pulley and fan belts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the fan from the fan clutch assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove the 8 bolts and 1 nut from the water pump and remove the water pump and gasket.
  22.  

To install:

  1. Install the water pump along with a new gasket and the retaining bolts and nut. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the fan to the fan clutch assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the fan belt guide, water pump pulley and fan belts.
  6.  
  7. Install the fan clutch along with the fan shroud.
  8.  
  9. Install the 4 bolt to the fluid coupling (fan clutch) flange.
  10.  
  11. Install the 4 fan shroud bolts.
  12.  
  13. Install the upper radiator hose.
  14.  
  15. Install the air cleaner case.
  16.  
  17. Install the alternator pivot nut and adjusting bar. Tighten the fan belt adjusting bolt and nut of the power steering pump and alternator.
  18.  
  19. Close the engine and radiator drain cock. Refill the coolant system.
  20.  
  21. Start the engine and check for any leaks.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  5. Remove the radiator inlet hose.
  6.  
  7. Remove the number 2 fan shroud.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 4 bolts from the fluid coupling (fan clutch) flange.
  10.  
  11. Loosen the fan belt adjusting bolt and nut of the power steering pump and alternator. Remove the alternator pivot nut and adjusting bar.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fan shroud mounting nuts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the four bolts, fan clutch, water pump pulley and fan shroud.
  16.  
  17. Remove the fan from the fan clutch.
  18.  
  19. Remove the air pipe assembly.
  20.  
  21. Remove the 8 bolts and 2 nuts from the water pump and remove the water pump and gasket.
  22.  

To install:

  1. Install the water pump along with a new gasket and the retaining bolts and nuts. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 N.m).
  2.  
  3. Install the air pipe assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the four bolts, fan clutch, water pump pulley and fan shroud.
  6.  
  7. Install the fan shroud mounting nuts.
  8.  
  9. Install the alternator pivot nut and adjusting bar. Tighten the drive belt adjusting bolt and nut.
  10.  
  11. Install the 4 bolts to the fluid coupling (fan clutch) flange.
  12.  
  13. Install the number 2 fan shroud.
  14.  
  15. Install the radiator inlet hose.
  16.  
  17. Close the engine and radiator drain cock. Refill the coolant system.
  18.  
  19. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
  20.  

3Y-EC and 4Y-EC Engines

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 4 nuts holding the fan clutch to the pulley and remove the fan and fan clutch assembly along with the water pump pulley.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolt and disconnect the drive belt adjusting bar from the water pump.
  8.  
  9. Remove the nuts and bolts retaining the water pump to the engine block, remove the water pump and gasket.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the water pump along with a new gasket and the retaining bolts and nuts. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the bolt and reconnect the drive belt adjusting bar to the water pump. Tighten the belt adjusting bar bolt to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the water pump pulley and fan clutch along with the fan assembly. Install the 4 bolts that retain the fan clutch to the water pump pulley.
  6.  
  7. Close the engine and radiator drain cock. Refill the coolant system.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
  10.
