  1. Disconnect the sensor wiring.
  2.  
  3. Insert a feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever.
  4.  
  5. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.
  6.  
  7. The resistance readings should be as follows:
  8.  
    1. With the clearance between the lever and the stop screw at 0, the resistance between terminals VTA and E2 should be 0.3-6.3k omega .
    2.  
    3. With the clearance between the lever and the stop screw a 0. 0197 in. (0.50mm) the resistance between terminals IDL and E2 should be 2.3k omega or less.
    4.  
    5. With the clearance between the lever and the stop screw a 0. 0354 in. (0.90mm) the resistance between terminals IDL and E2 should be infinity ( f ).
    6.  
    7. With the throttle valve fully opened the resistance between terminals VTA and E2 should be 3.5-10.3k omega .
    8.  
    9. With the throttle valve fully opened the resistance between terminals VC and E2 should be 4.3-8.3k omega .
    10.  

  9. If the sensor fails to pass any one of the resistance tests, replace the sensor. If everything proves to be satisfactory, reconnect the sensor connector.
  10.  

Van
  1. Unplug the sensor connector.
  2.  
  3. Insert a feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever.
  4.  
  5. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between each terminal.
  6.  
  7. The resistance readings should be as follows:

    1. With the clearance between the lever and the stop screw at 0.0224 in. (57mm) there should be continuity between terminal IDL and E1 and no continuity between terminals PSW-E1 and IDL-PSW.
    2.  
    3. With the clearance between the lever and the stop screw at 0.0335 in. (85mm) there should be no continuity between terminal IDL and E1 and no continuity between terminals PSW-E1 and IDL-PSW.
    4.  
    5. With the throttle valve in the fully opened position there should be no continuity between terminal IDL and E1 and continuity between terminals PSW-E1 and no continuity between terminals IDL-PSW.
    6.  

  9. If the sensor fails to pass any one of the resistance tests, replace the sensor. If everything proves to be satisfactory, reconnect the sensor connector.
