REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

On some of the Toyota models, the air conditioner assembly is integral with the heater assembly (including the heater core) and, therefore, the heater core removal may differ from the procedures detailed below. In some cases, it may be necessary to remove the A/C-heater housing and assembly to remove the heater core. Vehicles with factory installed air conditioning vary from those with dealer installed air conditioning. The following procedures are for factory installed air conditioning.

Due to the lack of information available at the time of this publication, a general blower motor removal and installation procedure is outlined. The removal steps can be altered as required.

Cressida
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the coolant system into a suitable drain pan. Remove the hood release and the fuel lid release levers.
  2.

CAUTION
When draining engine coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted to ethylene glycol antifreeze and could drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or is several years old.

The heater core is incorporated into the cooling assembly housing and therefore cannot be removed with out removing the cooling unit assembly and splitting the case into two halves. Refer to evaporator removal and installation for heater core removal procedures on vehicles equipped with air conditioning.
