Rear Window Wiper Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Cressida
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm and rear door trim cover.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the wiper motor wire connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper motor bracket attaching bolts and the wiper motor along with the bracket.
  8.  
  9. To install reverse the removal procedure. Connect the negative battery cable and check the operation of the wiper motor.
  10.  

Van
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. At the rear of the vehicle, remove the wiper motor cover panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wiper arm from the wiper motor.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the electrical connector from the wiper motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the wiper motor-to-door bolts and the motor from the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. To install reverse the removal procedure. Connect the negative battery cable and check the operation of the wiper motor.

  1. Unplug the connector from the wiper motor.
  2.  
  3. To inspect the motor operation in low speed, connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 2. Connect the negative lead to the motor body.
  4.  
  5. If the motor operates at low speed, the motor is working properly.
  6.  
  7. To inspect the motor operation in high speed, connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 1. Connect the negative lead to the motor body.
  8.  
  9. If the motor operates at high speed, the motor is working properly.
  10.  
  11. To inspect the motor operates, stopping at the stop position, use the following procedure:
  12.  
    1. Operate the motor at low speed.
    2.  
    3. Stop the motor operation anywhere except the stop position by disconnecting terminal 2.
    4.  
    5. Connect terminals 2 and 3. Connect the positive lead from battery to terminal 4.
    6.  
    7. Check that the motor stops running at the stop position after the motor operates again.
    8.  

  13. If the motor fails any of these operational test, replace it with a new one.
