2.4L Engine



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Drain the engine coolant.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Alternator
     
    Water pump pulley
     
    Water pump

  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the pump bolts and nuts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm) and the pulley bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Engine side covers
     
    Right-hand front wheel
     
    Engine splash shield
     
    Right-hand front fender apron seal
     
    Wiper arm and blade assembly
     
    Top cowl ventilator louver assembly
     
    Wiper motor and link assembly
     
    Battery and battery tray
     
    Air intake assembly
     
    Brake master cylinder reservoir
     
    Reservoir support bracket
     
    Air cleaner support bracket
     
    Engine moving control rod
     
    Right-hand engine mount
     
    Crankshaft pulley
     
    Timing belt cover No.1 and 2
     
    Timing belt guide
     
    Timing belt
     
    Timing belt idler sub-assembly No.1
     
    Camshaft timing pulley
     
    Timing belt cover No.3
     
    Timing belt idler sub-assembly No.2
     
    Water pump

  7. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the water pump with a new gasket to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).

  9. Refill the coolant to the correct level.
  10.  
  11. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  12.  
  13. If necessary, perform the initialization procedure, as outlined in the Chassis Electrical System.
