Removal & Installation



  1. Drain the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right side front wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the right side front fender liner.
  6.  
  7. Remove front bumper cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove left side headlamp assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the windshield washer reservoir assembly.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the actuator connector.

  15. Mark the location of each of the 6 brake lines where the attach to the unit.

  17. Using SST 09023-00101, disconnect the 6 brake tubes from the actuator with the bracket.
  18.  
  19. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and the actuator with the bracket.
    NOTE
    Be careful not to damage the brake tubes and wire harness.

To install:

  1. Install the brake actuator with the 2 nuts to the bracket. Tighten to 53 in lbs. (6 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the actuator with bracket with the 2 bolts and nut. Tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). Tighten the bolts in order from 1 to 3.
  4.  
  5. Connect the actuator connector.
    NOTE
    Make sure that the lever is locked securely.

  7. Using SST 09023-00101, connect each brake tube to correct positions of the actuator with bracket, as shown in the illustration. Tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the windshield washer reservoir.
  10.  
  11. Install headlamp assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the front bumper cover.
  14.  
  15. Install front fender liner.
  16.  
  17. Install the front wheel.
  18.  
  19. Fill reservoir with brake fluid.
  20.  
  21. Bleed master cylinder as follows:
    1. Using SST 09023-00101, disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder sub-assembly .
    2.  
    3. Slowly depress and hold the brake pedal.
    4.  
    5. Cover the outer holes with your fingers, and release the brake pedal.
    6.  
    7. Repeat these steps 3 or 4 times.
    8.  
    9. Using SST 09023-00101, connect the brake lines to the master cylinder sub-assembly and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).

  23. Bleed brake system.
  24.  
  25. Check fluid level in master cylinder reservoir and check for leaks.
