Master Cylinder

Removal & Installation



  1. Drain the brake fluid.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake master cylinder and brake booster.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the clutch reservoir tube from the clutch master cylinder assembly.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the pipe from the clutch master cylinder.
  8.  
  9. Remove the clutch pedal spring (W/O turnover).
  10.  
  11. Remove the clutch master cylinder push rod clevis pin and clip.
  12.  
  13. Remove the clutch master cylinder retaining nuts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the clutch master cylinder from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the clutch master cylinder in the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the clutch master cylinder retaining nuts and tighten to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Apply multi-purpose grease to the contacting surfaces of the pin and clevis bush.
  6.  
  7. Install the clevis pin and clip. The pin is easier to install from the right side.
  8.  
  9. Install the clutch pedal spring (W/O turnover).
  10.  
  11. Install the hydraulic pipe to the clutch master cylinder. Tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the brake booster assembly in the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Install the brake master cylinder.
  16.  
  17. Connect the reservoir tube to the clutch master cylinder.
  18.  
  19. Bleed the clutch.
  20.
