Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Inspect the mirror motor switch as follows:
    1. With the switch UP, measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 8 and terminals 6 and 7. The resistance should be less than 1 Ohm.
    2.  
    3. With the switch DOWN, measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 8 and terminals 6 and 7. The resistance should be less than 1 Ohm.
    4.  
    5. With the switch LEFT, measure the resistance between terminals 5 and 8 and terminals 6 and 7. The resistance should be less than 1 Ohm.
    6.  
    7. With the switch Right, measure the resistance between terminals 5 and 8 and terminals 6 and 7. The resistance should be less than 1 Ohm.
    8.  
    9. If not as specified, replace the switch.

  3. Inspect the mirror motor as follows:
    1. Unplug the mirror electrical connector.
    2.  
    3. Place battery positive voltage at terminal 3 of the mirror and battery negative or ground to terminal 2. The mirror should turn upwards.
    4.  
    5. Place battery positive voltage at terminal 2 of the mirror and battery negative or ground to terminal 3. The mirror should turn downwards.
    6.  
    7. Place battery positive voltage at terminal 2 of the mirror and battery negative or ground to terminal 1. The mirror should turn left.
    8.  
    9. Place battery positive voltage at terminal 1 of the mirror and battery negative or ground to terminal 2. The mirror should turn right.
    10.  
    11. If not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

Removal & Installation
Motor

The mirror motor is an integral part of the mirror assembly, if found to be defective; the whole mirror assembly must be replaced as outlined in this procedure.

  1. Insert a clip remover between the plate and trim manual door window regulator.

  3. Place the tool in position and turn the handle as illustrated and remove the handle.
  4.  
  5. Remove front door pull handle screw, then using a screwdriver, remove the door pull handle.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver, disengage the power window regulator master switch assembly clip, claws and remove the switch from the trim panel, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the master switch connector, remove the 3 screws and base panel from the master switch.
  10.  
  11. On models without a power door lock perform the following:
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front armrest base panel upper from the trim board.
    2.

  13. On models with a power door lock perform the following:
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front armrest base panel upper from the trim board.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the door lock switch connector.
    4.  
    5. Remove the door lock switch from the base panel.
    6.  

  14.  
  15. Using a screwdriver, disengage the clip and claw that retain the front door lower frame bracket, and remove the garnish.

  17. Remove front door trim panel as follows:
    1. Remove the screw and the clips and then pull off the panel.
    2.

  19. Remove front door inside handle as follows:
    1. Use a screwdriver to disengage the claw.
    2.  
    3. Move the inside handle in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration and move the handle out.
    4.

  21. Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle and remove the handle.

  23. Remove front door service hole cover 2 screws and bracket and remove the service hole cover.

  25. Remove the remaining tape on the body.
  26.  
  27. Remove the 2 screws and reinforcement.
  28.  
  29. Remove outside rear view mirror assembly nuts, unplug the connector and remove the mirror.
  30.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  

Switch
  1. Use a suitable prytool to remove the switch.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the connector and remove the switch.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  6.
