Fuel Injectors

Removal & Installation



1ZZ-FE Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable.
     
    No. 2 cylinder head cover
     
    Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose
     
    Engine wire, unplugging the injector connectors and clamps
     
    Fuel pipe clamp
     
    Fuel line/tube sub-assembly
     

  6.  


WARNING
Be careful not to drop the fuel injectors when removing the delivery pipe.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New grommets
     
    New O-rings coated with light machine oil
     
    Injectors on the delivery pipe
     

  2.  


NOTE
Coat the contact point on the pipe with light machine oil and twist the injectors into place. The connector should face outward.



Spacers
 


NOTE
Coat the seats in the head where the injectors contact, with light machine oil.



Delivery pipe and injectors
 

  1. Loosely install the hold-down bolts and check that the injectors rotate smoothly. If they don-t, the probable cause is incorrect O-ring installation. Torque the delivery pipe hold-down bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm) and the fuel pipe bolt to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).

    No. 2 cylinder head (valve) cover
     

  2.  

2ZZ-GE Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable.
     
    No. 2 cylinder head cover
     
    Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose
     
    Engine wire, by removing the bolt, then unplugging the injector and Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor connectors
     
    Fuel pipe clamp
     

  6.  


WARNING
Be careful not to drop the fuel injectors when removing the delivery pipe.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Engine wire, by connecting the CMP sensor and injector connectors and installing the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
     
    No. 2 cylinder head (valve) cover
