REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
All Except F, 2F and 3F-E Engines
To remove the sprockets or pulleys on all engines, first follow the timing chain or belt removal procedures, then follow below.
- Remove the retaining bolt(s) for the drive sprocket you wish to remove. Do not use the timing chain or belt as a means of holding the sprocket; use a spanner that is made for the job.
- Gently pry the sprocket or pulley off the shaft. If the sprocket or pulley is stubborn, use a gear puller. Never hammer on the sprocket or the camshaft!
- Remove the sprocket or pulley and be careful not to lose the key if equipped.
- On the engines with timing positioning pins, make sure the pins are properly aligned.
