REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Three Spoke

CAUTION
Do not attempt to remove or install the steering wheel by hammering on it. Damage to the energy absorbing steering column could result.

  1. Position the wheels in the straight ahead position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the horn and turn signal connectors at the bottom of the steering column shroud.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the trim pad retaining screws from the back of the steering wheel.
  6.  
  7. Lift the trim pad and horn button assembly from the wheel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the steering wheel hub retaining nut.
  10.  
  11. Scribe matchmarks on the hub and the steering shaft to aid in proper installation.
  12.  
  13. Grasp the steering wheel with both hands and firmly pull it off the column.
  14.  

If the wheel cannot be pulled off with your hands, use a steering wheel puller.

  1. Tighten the steering wheel hub retaining nut to 15-22 ft. lbs.

Four Spoke

CAUTION
Do not attempt to remove or install the steering wheel by hammering on it. Damage to the energy absorbing steering column could result.

  1. Position the wheels in the straight ahead position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the horn and turn signal connectors at the bottom of the steering column shroud.
  4.  
  5. Remove the plastic center insert on the steering wheel pad. Some models will require a small prybar to pry the insert out. On other models, remove the wheel pad screws on the back of the wheel and pull the pad off.
  6.  
  7. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.
  8.  
  9. Scribe matchmarks on the hub and the steering shaft to aid in proper installation.
  10.  
  11. Grasp the steering wheel with both hands and firmly pull if off the shaft.
  12.  

If the wheel cannot be pulled off with your hands, use a steering wheel puller.

  1. Tighten the steering wheel retaining nut to 22-28 ft. lbs.
  2.  

Two Spoke

CAUTION
Do not attempt to remove or install the steering wheel by hammering on it. Damage to the energy absorbing steering column could result.

  1. Position the front wheels in the straight ahead position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the horn and turn signal connectors at the bottom of the steering column shroud.
  4.  
  5. Carefully pry off the steering wheel center pad. Some models utilize a mounting screw at the bottom of the pad. Remove the screw and pull the pad out.
  6.  
  7. Remove the steering wheel center nut.
  8.  
  9. Scribe matchmarks on the hub and the steering shaft to aid in proper installation.
  10.  
  11. Using a steering wheel puller, remove the wheel.
  12.  
  13. Torque the retaining nut to 22-28 ft. lbs.
  14.
