Engine Cooling Fan

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Excluding 3F-E

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the alternator, A/C and power steering (if applicable) belts.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the bolts holding the water pump pulley (not the pump).
  6.  
  7. Remove the nuts, then remove the fan clutch (fluid coupling), fan and pulley.
  8.

To install:
  1. Install the pulley, clutch and fan; loosely fit the nuts in place.
  2.  
  3. Install the drive belt to the water pump pulley. Tighten the nuts to 16 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the belts to the other pulleys and adjust.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

3F-E Engine
  1. With the ignition OFF , unplug the connector at the fan.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fan shroud.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air intake silencer and support.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 3 bolts and remove the cooling fan assembly.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Attach the cooling fan.
  2.  
  3. Install the air intake silencer and support.
  4.  
  5. Attach the fan shroud.
  6.  
  7. Plug in the fan connection.
  8.  
  9. Start the vehicle and check for operation.
  10.
