REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



4Runner

See Figure 1

  1. Lower the door glass into the door all the way.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolts and clamps holding the torsion bar to the door. Remove the clip.
  4.  
  5. Remove the torsion bar and bolts from the door. Remove the torsion bar guide.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two bolts and the door stay.
  8.  
  9. Support the door, then remove the hinge bolts and the door.
  10.  
  11. Reinstall in reverse order. Tighten the hinge bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).

Land Cruiser

UPPER DOOR

See Figures 2 and 3

An assistant is required for this procedure.

  1. Remove the inner door panel trim. Unplug any wiring connectors for harnesses running between the door and body.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolts holding the door supports to the door.
  4.  
  5. Support the door in a convenient position allowing access to the hinge bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the hinge bolts and remove the door. The door is reasonably heavy and not balanced. Use caution when removing or carrying the door.
  8.  
  9. Reinstall in reverse order, tightening the hinge bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm.).
  10.  

LOWER DOOR
  1. Remove the inner trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the wiring to the license plate light and other electrical equipment.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the stays.
  6.  
  7. Remove the hinge bolts and remove the door.
  8.  
  9. Reinstall in reverse order, tightening the hinge bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  10.  

ADJUSTMENT



4Runner

See Figures 4, 5 and 6

  1. To adjust the door fore-and-aft, as well as left-to-right, loosen the body side hinge nuts. When adjusted, retighten to 25 ft. lbs. (33 Nm).
  2.  
  3. To adjust the door vertically, as well as left-to-right, loosen the door side hinge bolts. When adjusted, retighten to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Adjust the door striker as follows:
    1. Loosen the striker mounting screws to adjust.
    2.  
    3. Using a plastic hammer, tap the striker to adjust.
    4.

Land Cruiser

  1. Adjust the upper and lower rear doors fore-and-aft and left-to-right as follows:
    1. Adjust the door by loosening the door side hinge bolts.
    2.  
    3. Move the hinge into the appropriate direction with your hand or a plastic hammer.
    4.

  3. To adjust the upper and lower doors in the left-to-right and vertical directions, loosen the body side hinge bolts.
  4.  
  5. Adjust the door striker as follows:
    1. Check that the door fit and door lock linkage are adjusted correctly.
    2.  
    3. Adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker mounting screws, then hitting the striker with a plastic headed hammer. Tighten the mounting screw when the adjustment is appropriate.
