REMOVAL & INSTALLATION




CAUTION
Brake pads may contain asbestos, which has been determined to be a cancer causing agent. Never clean the brake surfaces with compressed air. Avoid inhaling any dust from brake surfaces. When cleaning brakes, use commercially available brake cleaning fluids.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the ABS speed sensor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Install the hub nuts temporarily to measure the disc runout and thickness. If not within specifications of inspection, replace the disc.
  10.  
  11. Place matchmarks on the disc and rear hub, then remove the disc.
  12.  

If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns freely.

To install:
  1. Install the disc on the hub.
  2.  
  3. Install the caliper.
  4.  
  5. Attach the ABS speed sensor.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheels, hand-tighten the lugnuts.
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle, tighten the lugnuts.
  10.  
  11. Before driving the vehicle press the brake pedal several times.

INSPECTION



When deciding weather or not to replace a disc, measure the thickness. The standard thickness is 0.709 in. (18.0mm) and the minimum thickness is 0.630 in. (16.0mm). Measure the disc runout, maximum specification is 0.0059 in. (0.15mm).
