Heat Insulator

The or heat insulator is the covering over the exhaust manifold and is secured by three or four bolts. Remove the O 2 sensor electrical connection if equipped. Unfasten the bolts securing the insulator to the manifold. Remove any gasket material and check the insulator for leaks, cracks or corrosion. Install a new gasket to the manifold, then attach the insulator. Tighten the mounting bolts as follows:



5VZ-FE engines-71 inch lbs. (8 Nm)
 
2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE engines- 48 inch lbs. (6 Nm)
 
22R-E and 1FZ-FE engines-14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm)
