  1. Remove the front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Detach the engine undercover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the torsion bar.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the stabilizer bar end link.
  8.  
  9. Detach the steering knuckle from the lower control arm.
  10.  
  11. Remove the nuts, bolts, and then the lower control arm.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the lower suspension arm bolts to 170 ft. lbs. (230 Nm).
  14.  

4Runner and Tacoma
  1. Remove the front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering gear assembly.
  4.

  1. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the shock absorber from lower control arm.
  4.  
  5. Support the upper control and steering knuckle securely.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the lower ball joint.
  8.  
  9. With a ball joint remover, disconnect the ball joint from the lower control arm.
  10.  
  11. Place matchmarks on the front and rear adjusting cams.
  12.

  1. Remove the two bolts, nuts, adjusting cams and lower control arm.
  2.  
  3. Remove the spring bumpers with a special tool 0992210010, or its equivalent.

To install:

  1. Attach the spring bumpers, tighten to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Attach the lower control arm, placing it in the appropriate position with the matchmarks. Tighten the arm to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Attach the lower ball joint with the correct tool, tighten the nut to 105 ft. lbs. (142 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Attach the shock absorber to the lower control arm.
  8.  
  9. Install the stabilizer bar link.
  10.  
  11. Install the steering gear assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the front wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.
  14.  
  15. Have the alignment checked at a reputable repair facility.
  16.  

Tundra
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle with jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right and left front wheels.
  4.  
  5. Detach the tie rod ends from the knuckle spindle assembly on each side.
  6.  
  7. Remove the power steering gear set bolts and nuts.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the stabilizer bar end links from the lower control arm.
  10.  
  11. Detach the strut from the lower control arm.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the ball joint from the lower control arm.
  14.  
  15. Matchmark the front and rear cam plates to the chassis.
  16.  
  17. Remove the bolts, and cam plates while slightly shifting the power steering gear towards the rear.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Install the lower suspension arm. Torque the bolts to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the lower ball joint to the lower control arm. Torque the nut to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Attach the strut to the lower control arm. Torque the bolts to 100 ft. lbs. (135 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the stabilizer bar end link to the lower control arm. Torque the bolts to 51 ft. lbs. (69 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the power steering gear. Torque the bolts as follows:

    Bolt A: 122 ft. lbs. (165 Nm).
     
    Nut B: 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm).
     
    Nut and bolt C: 122 ft. lbs. (165 Nm).
     

  10.  
  11. Install the tie rod ends.
  12.  
  13. Install the wheels.
  14.  
  15. Have the alignment checked by a qualified repair facility.

  1. Raise the front of the truck and support it with safety stands. Remove the wheels.
  2.  
  3. Remove the shock absorber from the lower control arm.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer bar at the lower arm.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the lower ball joint from the control arm. Remove the cotter pin, and then discard. Loosen the nut.
  8.  
  9. Paint matchmarks on the front and rear adjusting cams, remove them and lift out the control arm.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the lower arm and adjusting cams to the frame. Temporarily tighten the nuts.
  2.  
  3. Connect the ball joint to the arm. Tighten the nut to 105 ft. lbs. (142 Nm) and install a new cotter pin.
  4.  
  5. Connect the stabilizer bar and tighten the nuts.
  6.  
  7. Install the shock absorber to the lower control arm; tighten to 101 ft. lbs. (137 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the wheels and lower the truck. Bounce the truck several times to set the suspension.
  10.  
  11. Align the matchmarks on the adjusting cams and tighten the nuts to 145 ft. lbs. (196 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Have the alignment checked at a reputable repair facility.
  14.
