  1. Remove the front wheels.
  2.  
  3. Remove the nuts and disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the lower control arm.
  4.  
  5. Hold the link with a wrench, and then remove the nut, retainers, cushions and link.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts and stabilizer bar with cushions and brackets.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Place the stabilizer bar into position, then install both the bar cushions and brackets to the frame. Temporarily install the bolts. Tighten to 1922 ft. lbs. (2529 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Hold the stabilizer bar link with a wrench, then install the link onto the lower control arm with a new nut. Tighten the nut to 1419 ft. lbs. (1925 Nm).
  4.  
  5. On models with the links using a hexagon wrench, connect the stabilizer bar on both sides to the links with new nuts, tighten to 5570 ft. lbs. (6995 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the front wheels.
  8.  
  9. Have the alignment checked at a reputable repair facility.
  10.

  1. Raise the truck and support it on safety stands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. If necessary, remove the engine undercover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the nut, and then disconnect the stabilizer bar with the link from the bracket.
  8.

  1. Disconnect the bar from the axle housing. Remove the stabilizer bar. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the bracket from the bar.

Examine the rubber bushings very carefully for any splits or deformation. Clean the inner and outer surfaces of the bushings before reinstallation. Failed or dirty bushings can create a chorus of odd noises under the vehicle, particularly during cornering.

To install:

  1. Reassemble the cushions and cover onto the painted mark on the bar.
  2.

  1. Tighten the bar-to-bracket bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm). Mount the bar, tightening the fittings just snug.
  2.  
  3. Install the wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground. Bounce the front end several times to stabilize the suspension.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the bolts at the axle tube to 19 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). Tighten the nuts at the top of the small link to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Have the alignment checked at a reputable repair facility.
