Removal & Installation
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
Remove or disconnect the following:
- Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.
- Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped in tape, carefully pry out the oil seal without scratching the sealing surface of the crankshaft. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
- Apply multi-purpose grease to the lip of the new seal. Keep the lip free of foreign materials.
Install or connect the following:
Seal in the retainer using a suitable seal driver. Wipe any extra grease off the crankshaft.
