  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.
  3. Properly release fuel system pressure.
  4.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable

    Fuel filter-s protective shield

  6.
  7. Place a pan under the delivery pipe to catch the dripping fuel and slowly loosen the union bolt or flare nut to bleed off the fuel pressure.
  8.
  9. Drain the remaining fuel.
  10.
  11. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Inlet and outlet lines

    Fuel filter

  12.

To install:

  1. Coat the flare nut, union nut and bolt threads with engine oil.
  2.
  3. Hand-tighten the inlet line to the fuel filter.
    NOTE
When tightening the fuel line bolts to the fuel filter, use a torque wrench. The tightening torque is very important, as under or over tightening may cause fuel leakage. Insure that there is no fuel line interference and that there is sufficient clearance between it and any other parts.

  4.
  5. Install or connect the following:

Fuel filter. Tighten the inlet bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).

Delivery pipe using new gaskets. Tighten the union bolt to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).

  6.
  7. Run the engine for a few minutes and check for any fuel leaks.
  8.
  9. Install the protective shield.
