Removal & Installation



  1. Remove a small amount of fluid from the master cylinder.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4.  
  5. Pry off the pad protector, being careful not to bend it.
  6.  
  7. Remove the spring clip and the 2 pad guide pins.
  8.  
  9. Remove the anti-rattle spring and the pads.
  10.  
  11. Remove the shims from each pad.
  12.  


NOTE
When replacing worn pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced.

To install:

  1. Apply disc brake grease to both sides of the shims.
  2.  
  3. Install the shims on the pads.
  4.  
  5. Compress the piston with a piston forcing tool.
  6.  
  7. Install the inner pad with the wear indicator plate facing down.
  8.  
  9. Install the outer pad.
  10.  
  11. Install the anti-rattle spring.
  12.  
  13. Install the guide pins.
  14.  
  15. Install the clip.
  16.  
  17. Install the protector.
  18.  
  19. Install the wheel.
  20.  
  21. Refill the master cylinder.
  22.  
  23. Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the pads before moving the vehicle.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel
     
    Caliper
     
    Pads and shims
     
    Shims and wear indicator from the pads
     

  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Apply disc brake grease to the inside of each shim. The wear indicator is installed on the inner pad.
  6.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove a small amount of fluid from the master cylinder.

  7. Remove the wheel.
  8.

  21. Refill the master cylinder.
  22.  
  23. Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the pads before moving the vehicle.
