Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the brake lines from the actuator assembly.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the actuator assembly to bracket nuts and remove the actuator.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the actuator on the bracket and tighten the nuts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Attach the electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Install the brake lines and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Bleed the brake system.

With Vehicle Stability Control
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the brake fluid.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Mark the location of each of the 6 brake lines where the attach to the unit.

  9. Release the latch on the unit connector to disconnect it from the connector.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the 6 brake lines from the unit.
  12.  
  13. Unfasten the bolts and the unit with the bracket.
  14.  
  15. Unfasten the two nuts and remove the unit from the bracket.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Position the unit on the bracket and tighten the nuts to 48 in. lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the unit and bracket. Tighten the bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the brake lines in their original locations and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Attach the unit connector.
  8.  
  9. Fill the brake system with new fluid.
  10.  
  11. Bleed the brake master cylinder as follows:
    1. Turn the engine on and let it idle.
    2.  
    3. Connect a clear tube to the brake caliper bleeder plug.
    4.  
    5. Open the brake caliper bleeder plug or wheel cylinder bleeder plug.
    6.  
    7. Operate the brake pedal several times, then loosen the master cylinder (3rd chamber) bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.
    8.  
    9. When the fluid stops coming out, tighten the master cylinder bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.
    10.  
    11. Repeat this procedure until the air is bled from the master cylinder.
    12.

  13. Bleed the brake system.

Without Vehicle Stability Control
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the brake fluid.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  8.  
  9. Mark the location of each of the 6 brake lines where the attach to the unit.
  10.  
  11. Release the latch on the unit connector to disconnect it from the connector.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the 6 brake lines from the unit.
  14.  
  15. Unfasten the bolts and the unit with the bracket.
  16.  
  17. Unfasten the two nuts and remove the unit from the bracket.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Position the unit on the bracket and tighten the nuts to 48 in. lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the unit and bracket. Tighten the bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the brake lines in their original locations and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Attach the unit connector.
  8.  
  9. Fill the brake system with new fluid.
  10.  
  11. Bleed the brake master cylinder as follows:
    1. Turn the engine on and let it idle.
    2.  
    3. Connect a clear tube to the brake caliper bleeder plug.
    4.  
    5. Open the brake caliper bleeder plug or wheel cylinder bleeder plug.
    6.  
    7. Operate the brake pedal several times, then loosen the master cylinder (3rd chamber) bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.

    9. When the fluid stops coming out, tighten the master cylinder bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.
