  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.
  3. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  4.
  5. Remove the No1. coolant temperature sensor.
  6.
  7. Place the sensor in a container of water with a temperature above 90 degrees C (208 F).
  8.
  9. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the terminals. If there is continuity, replace the sensor.
  10.
  11. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals when the temperature is below 88 degrees C (190 F). . If there is no continuity, replace the sensor.
  12.
  13. Remove the No2. coolant temperature sensor.
  14.
  15. Place the sensor in a container of water with a temperature above 94 degrees C (201 F).
  16.
  17. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the terminals. If there is continuity, replace the sensor.
  18.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.
  3. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  4.
  5. Remove the coolant temperature sensor.
  6.
  7. Place the sensor in a container of water with a temperature approximately 20 degrees C (68 F).
  8.
  9. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between the terminals. The resistance should be 2.34-2.59 Kohms.
  10.
  11. Raise the temperature of the container of water to approximately 80 degrees C (126F).
  12.
  13. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between the terminals. The resistance should be 0.310-0.326 Kohms.
  14.

  1. Drain engine coolant.
  2.
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
  4.
  5. Using a 19 mm deep socket wrench, remove the ECT sensor and gasket.
  6.
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
  8.
  9. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the ECT sensor.
