Removal & Installation

3.0L & 3.3L Engines
Front Manifold

NOTE
Removing the oil filter helps gain access to a lower bolt in the front exhaust manifold.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable

    Engine undercovers

Front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifolds, by removing the nuts

  4.

NOTE
Check for access to some of the manifold lower bolts, if so remove any possible.

Heated Oxygen (HO2) sensor

Exhaust manifold stay, by removing the bolt and nut

Remaining exhaust manifold nuts; then, separate the exhaust manifold from the engine

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

Exhaust manifold, using a new gasket. Uniformly, tighten the bolts to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).

Exhaust manifold stay. Tighten the nut/bolt to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

Heated Oxygen (HO2) sensor to the exhaust manifold

Front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold, using a new gasket. Tighten both nuts to 46 ft. lbs. (62 Nm).

    Engine undercovers

    Negative battery cable
